People make the
world go round.

Just like drinking wine, making wine is so much better when you’re in good company. To foster that good, we prioritize our people, centering on a culture of diversity, inclusion and wellbeing. Our employee educational programs nurture personal, financial, team and community health. From scholarships and health fairs to volunteer opportunities and loan-facilitation and financial literacy programs, we strive to be a force for good in the lives of everyone who makes Fetzer go round.

Margaret Leonardi

Winemaker

Agriculture runs in my blood. I am a fourth-generation farmer, born and raised on an organic dairy farm in Northern California. Farming gave me genuine appreciation for the joy of bringing people together to share the goodness that comes from the earth.

Winemaking Philosophy

Much like the principles of sustainability, I take a forward-thinking approach to every winemaking decision. I thrive on planning and predictive environments. Understanding how I want the wines to taste allows me to stay focused on the outcome when I plan vineyard visits, anticipate ripeness levels and decide when it’s time to harvest the grapes.

Fetzer Faves

Sauvignon Blanc is my starter wine to ease into the evening—perfect with or without snacks.

Gewürztraminer is my regular go-to for a night of spicy takeout.

Chardonnay pairs well with a wide variety of foods.

Jessica Baum

Sustainability Director

I am an active student of the interconnectedness of people and the planet. My curiosity has led me to be certified as an herbalist, live in a permaculture intentional community, and teach kids hands-on science.

Sustainability Philosophy

Sustainability is an ongoing practice. It’s about progress, not perfection. It’s kindness to people and the planet. And it’s tracking metrics, because you can’t manage what you don’t measure. Just like using a fitness tracker can provide insight and inspiration for change in personal health, a sustainability tracking system can inspire great changes in lifestyle.

Sustainable Living Tips

Instead of dryer sheets, consider using large reusable wool dryer balls. Less waste, and shortens drying time.
Ask your electric company if they offer a renewable energy program.
Check your tire pressure regularly. It has a big impact on car-related emissions.
